I am Joshua Touster, Irwin’s Touster son.
Sadly, my father died a couple of years ago. But he had a good long life, and died at the age of 95 years old.
I never heard the story from him that my father lost his dog tags in Italy, and it was quite the surprise receiving your letter.
It made me think about his time in the army, and a perfect stranger finding my fathers dog tags in a hole in Italy. I wonder how he lost them?
I am wondering if you tried to contact my father for the sole purpose to let him know this story? or did you have another reason for contacting him?
If you ever decide to part with his dog tags it would be a great honor for me to have them. I have collected all of my father’s mementoes over the years.
But I understand how important it was for you to find them, and I hope they are an important part of your collection.
